Not saying that there won’t be difficulties but I think that the biggest factor here is Biden dropping out through ill health and that the Democrats have not made any official nomination.
The Republicans can’t force Biden to stand and nor can they have an uncontested election.

Of course, Biden should have stepped down straight after the debate (or before), it is complicated but Harris is the easiest route through all the difficulties
Absolutely, thing is she wasn’t polling well so an internal combustion / party division may occur unless they get their heads screwed on and unify behind her.

Major players were calling for Jo to go and they won’t have been sitting on their hands with a new strategy. Whether it works or not is another thing.
At least they can now mock trump for being to old for the job

she doesn’t though. read that a very large number of american women don’t like the idea of a female president. The bible bashers tend to be very traditional with the wife staying home.
Which is probably why Hilary got more votes that Trump.

Sure but that’s not the way it works is it.
Something like 4 millions people that voted for Obama stayed at home rather than vote for Hilary.
It looks like this isn’t a snap decision - Kamala Harris has come straight out the blocks fighting.
And Labour got in with a massive majority with a lower vote share than Corbyn who lost.
There are stats to prove or disprove any statement you want to make
There are lies, damn, lies and statistics.

I just meant the fly over states do hold more political sway per head of population. They do also seem to vote along the lines of “traditional” values.

I do have some insight on this having lived there for five years. It was a bit different then, but the seeds were sown with the tea party lot.
A good friend, left wing for an American, his father took his 8 year old to one side and told her “you know your Dad voted for Obama, he’s a baby killer”.
Just unreal.

I know we’ve had this conversation a few times Edd, but I still can’t comprehend how someone, especially someone who claims to be a Christian, can look at Trump, knowing all the incontrovertible evidence (never mind all the hearsay) and think, yeah that’s my President, it absolutely twists my melon.
