I’m beginning to wonder if this is going to wind up as a sort of ‘Super Truss’ moment, where so much madness happens so quickly that a correction occurs because the national consensus swings to a sort of ‘no, actually you can fuck off.’ I suspect it’s wistful thinking on my part but so many of these things affect red state, normalised Republican voters that you sort of have to wonder.*
*It’s that or I start drinking in the morning which plays havoc with my productivity.
I’d get to drinking. Truss was an unloved, unelected, inflicted pathogen and the UK was up for a ritual exorcism to expel her.
Americans voted with their Kentucky Fried Brainz to have their eyeballs injected with this on a hourly basis. They’ll find a way to blame all the bad stuff on woke pavements. American families won’t let something as trivial as a bunch of dead kids get them down, they heartily endorse a school shooting on the regular as we’ve come to see.
I recall hearing Obama talk, during his second term I think, and even he said that it had come as a bit of a shock to discover how little the POTUS can actually make happen. He can shout a lot, but the rules really do constrain him. They say “It’s not until you get your hands on the levers of power that you discover that those levers are pretty much not connected to anything”.
POTUS can make lots of things happen, just not really fucking stupid, juvenile and imbecilic things that make grown up Judges step in and say “get back in the nursery you fucking imbecile”
Headline: “South African government has officially suspended all American businesses within its territory and halted mineral exports to the United States.”
I suspect that’s not quite true but it’s indicative of how the South African government feels towards the US (Trump?) at pesent.
