Most summers we have a little paddle in the kayak and launch from there, if there is enough water.
It is so narrow you have to find the right place to turn around if you want to get home.

I remember that too. Actually it was the first Suspension Bridge I saw when I were a nipper!
Agreed; better in white! 
I have a photo somewhere of my mum and grandfather on the Aust Ferry when he was driving her from home in Cardiff to teaching college in Bristol.
