Think I paid about a £1 from my pocket money for Do They know it’s Christmas when I was seven.
These cheeky bastards want £3.49 postage on top of the £11.99 so that’s £15.48 for a single. They can fck the fck off.
It is fucking disgraceful. A handful of Director in the PO and Fujitsu should be up in the Courts and sent down for perverting the course of justice. Chances of this happening must be near zero. I’ve been moved to write to my local MP and will also write to a couple of Ministers of State as i know they have to provide an answer of some description. I think the politicians will continue to ignore this unless their mail bag is bursting at the seams.
I don’t understand how it hasn’t been the lead story every day since on every news program.
Instead we get a daily running count of the small boats arriving.
Indeed. It’s almost like our news media chase populism and political-poodlery in favour of proper investigative journalism…
I watched the first episode live and then immediately binged the other three on itvX with head in hands. There were so many issues raised that I found difficult to believe were true representations of the facts, and many others I found difficult to accept had occurred, yet as an ex civil servant with experience as a trade union branch officer I also realised were totally believeable.
The levels of “knowledgeable denial of facts” by senior officers as the story unfolded became massively frustrating and anger inducing, but the thing I found most difficult to get my head around was that the Post Office, a “public service”, employing public sector workers offering services to us “the public” on a day to day basis, were/are seemingly governed by a legal system totally outside of the remit of our normal police service, and were allowed to investigate, case manage and prosecute totally outside of the legal system which applies to the rest of us (and PO staff outside of the working environment!) with no recourse to the “fair” principles of law.
How the fuck does that work?
One would hesitate to suggest that the CEO of Royal Mail at the time of this shitshow being implemented, when RM & POC were still a joint entity and who therefore knew exactly what was going on and was definitely involved in the decision making, might, after leaving RM, have been in a position to influence media coverage…
Said incumbent was Mr Adam Crozier, who left RM in 2010 to become Chief Executive of… ITV and ITV Studios.
Guess which high ranking postal sector executive is not depicted in a drama about a postal sector scandal produced by (checks notes…) ITV Studios…
I smell a CUNT amongst the pigeons!
Fishy.
I wonder if Adam Crozier will get a mention in tomorrow’s “Mr Bates vs The Post Office:The Real Story”…also due to be shown on ITV?
He left in 2017, he would have had nothing to do with the programme. I think the programme had it right, it tells the story from the pov of the PO managers, it didn’t need to point fingers of blame at individuals, your imagination is more than capable from what is implied.
I think frustration comes from the lack of a team like Panorama (mortal coil and all that) holding these people to account. No one else is, the Police, Courts, Politicians etc. Fuck, they even go on to get other top executive roles. This cunt is now BT Group Chair.
What a fuckin’ surprise!
Just another once public service sold off and fucked over, now in the hands of exploitative “savvy business individuals!”
The revolving door exclusive to Executives.
Do you think at least some the people he appointed as senior executives at ITV aren’t still in place?
He was in charge of RM at the time, PO came under the RM umbrella, and he’s not even mentioned.
It stinks. but that’s not a surprise.
I accept your point about the emphasis rightfully being on the PO management, but he was there, and involved.
Prophetic. He’s bobbed to the surface in a revised version of the very same Grauniad article I linked above to assert that despite being Postal Affairs Minister at the time, he was shut out of the whole thing and basically “Nothing to do with me, mate!”…
This whole entire thing fucking reeks - way too much washing of hands in places where the buck should be stopping. People were driven to fucking suicide FFS!
The only publication that carried the story and never let up talking about the incompetence of the PO and the miscarraige of justice was Private Eye.
Seen as a satirical comic they have often been the lone voice that eventually proves to be right.
Maxwell, Lockerbie, The Paradise Papers rtc
Ah, you misunderstand, when i said the PO managers i was referring to the victims, not the senior Directors in the PO.
I’m not going to link to the wanky Daily Fail but they’ve run a story saying other people are asking the same question as you.
ITV’s response as to why Crozier wasn’t in it:
ITV said: 'Mr Bates vs The Post Office tells the story of the Post Office scandal from the perspective of a select group of former subpostmasters who formed the Justice for Subpostmasters Alliance, led by Alan Bates.
‘Alan’s campaign for justice only began to make headway when Paula Vennells was promoted to chief executive, so that’s the relationship we dramatise.’
If you’re seething at what you think you know right now, FFS don’t start reading this https://www.postofficescandal.uk/
Holy fucking shit
Whilst the Post Office was prosecuting Subpostmasters for crimes they didn’t commit, it was also asking its investigators if their suspects were “Negroid Types”. This was as recently as 2008.
