Sounds like a local issue, Mike. RM are very good here. Or maybe I’m the outlier. Who knows.
Years ago in the watch world a guy in the US pulled the “take the item, refuse to pay, what are you going to do about it?” stunt.
It turned out that a guy on the forum was a) local and b) some sort of Native American marshall so the answer turned out to be “my buddy is going to come round to your house and make sure that you know he has a Big Fucking Gun”

I have a massive dislike for religions but have always had the feeling he is a special level of nasty cunt. He just comes across as particularly arrogant and more interested in the politics and power being a high ranking bible basher provides.
Welby said last week that he had considered resigning over his “shameful” decision not to act remorselessly to deal with reports of abuse by John Smyth, a powerful and charismatic barrister who died in 2018, when he was informed of them in 2013.
After Channel 4 News exposed Smyth’s abuse in 2017, Welby told the programme he had “no idea that there was anything as horrific as this going on … I had no suspicions at all”.

I was about to make a comment about “wasn’t he an oil exec? that would explain a lot” but then I’m pretty sure @chelseadave was also an oil exec, and he was bloody excellent.
Was an oil exec, gave it up to be ordained as a normal standard parish vicar around our way which doesn’t really say power grabbing. Friend of ours taught his kids piano and the characterisation above wasn’t their experience.
Think Dave was an engineer, designed oil pipelines and pumping/distribution systems. Actually think he started out as a draughtsman.

One of the wife’s friends married a second generation exec from a well-known oil company, although he later went on to be an independent consultant.
We went to their wedding and I was introduced to the groom’s mother. Thinking “well she must have been married to the first generation exec. I should make small-talk” I said that my father had been ship’s master on VLCCs for another well-known oil company.
She looked at me like she’d just encountered a talking jobbie, snorted “Huh! Crew!” and stalked off
That kind of needless nastiness must take years to perfect.
