Had he been 18 at the time of the attack (he was 17) he would have received a full life sentence.
He will be eligible for parole when he is 70

Strangely the BBC reported that at 18 the judge would not have been able to specify a minimum term for a life sentence. Is it the home secretary who can approve a while life tarrif at 18?
