Since we felled the adjacent Eucalytpus tree (park-sized tree in suburban terraced garden.. didn’t work) the Phormium has gone ballistic. It flowered for the first time last year - 1 stem. This year there are 6 flower stems 9-10ft tall.

Been off since last Wednesday so built a fence and planted some green things
left to right – bloomerang Lilac - climbing rose – hibiscus – climbing rose – blue grass – jasmine
Yes I know the fence is ‘very’ blue but it looked paler in the shop and I couldn’t return it, so fuck it went on anyway

Yes I bought it for Hel and she planted it 3 years ago - its a Persian silk tree, and there are a few varieties.

This pic might help in terms of choosing a location - it was 2 feet high and fairly narrow 3 years ago and as you can see it has shot both up and out in that time -
That’s really helpful, just pondering where to put one as it seams they don’t like un-sheltered spots and we are on clay so would need to sort drainage and mound it.
I think it will be worth it as very pretty.

So today I spent 4 hrs repainting the fucking thing, even worse it needed 3x coats to cover the fucking reform blue

Do a bit of research first. It’s classed as invasive due to its rapid growth and long lasting seeds which can spread rapidly.
It does look lovely though.
Parents popped round yesterday to see the fence and green things I’ve planted.
And brought a fucking plant with them as a present

Also moved the purple fountain grass into the other corner as it seems it actually grows much bigger than I thought. At least now it will hide the BT internet box shite
