The Allotment has nearly had a clean shave

I can never understand why 2 plants from the same seed turn out so differently.

Basil.

Sat next to each other.

Tomatoes just getting ripe.

Chillies update. This year I have six plug plants bought from Devon chillie farm, all grown indoors. Details below left to right:
Demon red (30000-50000) - 15 fruit and still flowering strongly
Prairie fire (Shu 70000) 60 fruit
Razzmataz (Shu 5000-20000) 50 fruit
Thai hot (Shu 50000-100000) 80 fruit
Apache (Shu 80000 - 100000) 100 + fruit
Purple princess (Shu 5000-30000) only 5 fruit but 100’s of flowers - Very large plant may produce late?

the first three easy are an easy fit for a window sill.

Which is the one in the pic at the bottom?

That’s thai hot and to me the plant looks identical to my apache - So possibly might be that. - Just checked on internet and apache appears to have it’s fruit growing downwards not upwards so they are probably Thai hot (which I shouldn’t of googled)

I have an Apache out in the garden.

Loads of fruit but none of it’s gone red yet. I’m assuming that I should wait for it to do so before picking.

To help verify the specific plants I have
are your apache fruit going up or down?

you can use them red or green
Green is milder and apparently healthier.

99% down. There’s one that’s kind of horizontal :grinning:

Not necessarily. Many recipes use green chillis. I freeze some and leave some to go red. Some of these I freeze and some I string up through the stalk and hang in the kitchen window to dry, then store in a jar.

These are all cayennes, grown from seed.
