The Beatles

Funnily enough I was watching a bit of a Lennon interview about the breakup just recently. What he said made sense; that the breakup actually helped all of them creatively, there was no way to continue on as a group as nobody could get their ideas through. George especially would have stagnated in the band

Ringo was the perfect drummer for the band.

Macca is a bit better than average :joy: His biggest problem is inability to differentiate between shit and genius so he released quite a bit of garbage. He’s actually a pretty good musician as well, a lot of the guitar solos are him or John because George couldn’t play the part

I don’t have any albums by The Beatles, however I do enjoy listening when neighbours and friends bring their records to Music Evenings at mine.

Amazing bass player, and a bit of his shit that I absolutely love Is Silly Love Song, where he simultaneously sends himself up and drives the song along with that super funky bass line. There are some stinkers, but we can allow him that, can’t we?

Yes, they were a remarkable accident. A 10 year series of events and then gone. At least two of the great singers, too. Mccartney can sing anything, or at least could.

Even in burned out coke rock give your wife a tamboiurine mode McCartney wrote and delivered things contemporary bands would die for.

I’m sort of getting the vibe that you’re a mega fan here

It’s kind of easy for him. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think I’m amazed he hasn’t lost his mind! Every facet of his life sifted over for 60 years plus…

Oh definitely. I’m a huge fan, I just always found the contrast kind of funny. I mean A Day In The Life v Say Say Say

I will be listening to that album tonight thanks to this thread. He had out enough solo stuff at that period that so there’s a good mix of Wings to Beatles songs. And he’s a pro live and had quality sidemen (except Linda :poop:)

Wings = I’m out.

My mum used to play Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper when I was quite young. Both albums are ingrained in my deep memory and take me to nice places when I listen to them.

Unsurprisingly, perhaps, my favourites are Yellow Submarine and Sgt. Pepper.

I have a deep affinity for this one too which was also on rotation when I was a nipper

My sub conscious would automatically block that out.

C moon was one of the first singles I can remember buying

That is an utter bastard, for sure.

None of these invalidate the staggering amount of good stuff though.

I really like Revolver if I have to pick a favourite album. Can change

I have phases of listening to all of them. Currently, I’m listening to The While Album a lot. But this week I’ve listened to most of the biguns at least once. This has been in and around a major Gene Clark, Flying Burritos and Byrds thing.
