Reasonably sure Convair adopted a similar approach, except it was the 1950s, so definitely done on the back of fag packets :ok_hand:

Is that what they are, didn’'t think it looked normal.

I’ve just spent a good chunk of the evening in the RAF officers club near Hyde Park Corner. You guys would love every corner being festooned with photography and memorabilia.

And if you want a pint then options are Spitfire, Spitfire or, err, Spitfire.

Oh, and I knew my buddy had piloted a Spitfire. It seems that moneybags has set himself a goal of everything with a Merlin engine in it. A couple of other things, I think he said Lancaster, and a Hurricane this year.

I think our lives have diverged a bit.

Was @coco not planning a spitfire trip? Did it ever happen?

I have spent a couple of very good evenings there and stayed the night. Very luxurious. A friend I was at poly with ( who was a big boozing hooligan) somehow became a Wing Commander so we got to enjoy his hospitality. Divergent lives indeed!

Just driven past this.

Is it me or is the idea of flying a plane that has been sitting doing nothing for 15 years a little sketchy?

Was there last year, thought the spitfire lager was quite good.

Afternoon in the Austrian embassy (no Ferrero Rocher :frowning:) , evening (very late) in the RAF club and then crashed at the Union Jack club.

I was going to say there is a Super Guppy at Bruntingthorpe …just checked..it’s been broken up for scrap. The owners of Bruntingthorpe wanted to clear the aircraft away as they needed space. …

Last time I was in Bruntingthorpe they had a Vulcan in a hanger.

I think that was the famous XH558 ..being used for taxi runs. It was bought by the trust Vulcan to the sky who fully restored and flew it …2008 to 2015 … (Gen from Wikipedia)
