Had a tracker fitted on this one. Not cheap but cheaper than my insurance will be.
Have to admire your commitment. It must be an outstanding bike.
Tbh I did consider calling it and taking the money but the insurance cash was 2.8k less than value of new bike. It seemed to make sense to let them replace the bike.
It is a great bike tho, fun and bags of torque.
Iāve got an Almax S3 chain and Squire stronghold lock thatās surplus to requirements, but looking at that frame, thereās no way you could thread something that chunky through it.
Thanks, unfortunately I found out the hard way that squire stronghold locks are not good against grinders.
Iām using a liteloc X3 with 22mm chain through a ground anchor. Along with wheel spindles removed.
Donāt suppose much is if the grinderās beefy enough, thereās some pretty impressive cordless ones around these days, unfortunately.
Yep, itās a nightmare.
The liteloc has done well in test, taking 4 or 5 discs to get through with a mains grinder. Would likely defeat a battery grinder.
I think the alarm and spindle removal are my best options tbh, that and multiple locks.
You want to see the portable pneumatic bolt cutters
Frightening.
Unfortunately thereās multiple options for the scummy cunts.
The argument for chunky locks and chains used to be forcing the thieves to make as much noise as possible, but to be honest, even if someone fired up a petrol disc cutter around here, no one would even notice with all the home improvement thatās constantly going on.
Itās quite depressing really. My mate around the corner has given up on crossers, he had 3 go, one after the other, all within weeks of replacement.
Back in the day, I kept my Red Rocket in the garage, no security, no problems.
Shit, isnāt it ?
I also owned a YZ 400. That was never stolen either.
Yep
My Ducati has never been stolen either, nor was my R1 or any of my ZXR750s. Some of those were just kept in the shed. I did have a ZXR400R stolen although that was 30 odd years ago, and Iād left it on the driveway of a house that was one of a very few that were completed on a new build estate, so it probably attracted the attention of the scum that were scouting for building equipment to rob.
It used to be sports bikes that were targeted, and they either got stripped or ringed for racing.
Donāt remember it being anything like the volume of MX bikes that are getting robbed these days though, and multiple bikes getting targeted from the same owners.
As I say, shit, aināt it ?
Tis.
Been riding since ā87, had many bikes in that time. Not had one stolen until last October.
Round here itās the balaclava scum with feral parents that are stealing bikes, itās a huge problem in Bristol.
Try my burglar baffling technique of having something too weird to rob. E.g my Quad esl Quad ii system. Their value in bags of scag was not computable, so I was left alone in my ground floor innercity flat in Leeds.
Buy a shit bike that no one wants, including me. Yea, great idea
No, get something that is wholly outside the scrotal experience.
