Any bikers in the midlands area ? After recommendations for a b&b for a couple of us that are planning to ride up to the National Motorcycle Museum and the TrIumph factory the day after.
Thanks.

I can’t recommend anywhere but have a look on here;

Cheers.

Up until the mid 70s we lived in a house in Solihull with quite a large triangular garden. Behind the hedge to the left was a cul de sac which only had houses (with large garages) on the far side.

We started to hear motorcycles being ridden up and down the road, not fast nor particularly loudly but most evenings. We’d climb through a gap in the hedge and watch this guy taking various vintage bikes up and down the close. Even then he must’ve had 20 or so. My favourite was the Ariel square four and I did get a brief ride on the back of it once. We asked what he was going to do with them all and he said, start a museum.

It was this chap.

And the insurance renewal landed, a trivial £1975.

:grimacing:

Oof !

How many bikes is that?? My bike and car together come to about 1/10th of that!

Oof indeed! Is that being driven by the light-fingered bastards stealing your bikes?

No, surely not ?

2 bikes, full comp and 9 years ncb.
2 thefts from garage has obviously impacted it but the short time between thefts is the main drive in increase.
Had to stay with current brokers, others I tried wouldn’t touch it.

Annoyingly I can only declare 3 security devices for insurance purpose.

Last year I paid £720

I said goodbye to this little beauty today after 35 years of ownership.

Sadly neglected for the last 20 years but hopefully will be returned to the road by its new owner (who bought an identical bike new in 1981)

There’s a guy on the Practical sportsbikes FB page with a rather trick one of those with a ft500 motor in it.

Mate has the cb125rs when he was 17 and the punishment it took was incredible. Bulletproof.

I also had a CB125RS before the 250. I’d completely forgotten about the FT500, nice looking bike.

1st bike I ever owned, from new, delivered on 10/10/1980 (a date firmly imprinted on my mind). I still have the credit card sized owner certificate somewhere. I think mine was black, but wierdly I can’t actually remember that for certain! :man_shrugging:

Dispatched on one of those for a year, great tool round town.

It’s new owner apparently also used his original RS as a despatch rider in London in the early eighties.
