Local Triumph and Harley dealership just closed.
Had an overheating issue with the speed triple , thermostat is fucked but been discontinued by triumph and no pattern parts available. Currently running without one and hoping a second hand one turns up on eBay.
I know it is a car place, but sounds like they might be able to do a custom job.
I’ll look into that. I was thinking there must be a place that can make one all these classic cars on the road.
Have you tried these guys?
Yeah , slightly different. That’s from the 2001 onwards.
Cheers Mich. willl look into that.
Looks promising. Just need to somehow check the temps.
I think the triump one opens at 83C and the other one 88C. Not sure if that will be much of an issue, the fan on the Triumph starts at 107C. I’m sure there is someone on here would know if it will create an issue.
I was looking for that information but after finding it a few days ago before the thermostat was taken out , buggered if I could find it again.
Cheers again.
if my lottery numbers come up I’ll be buying a Suter 500 and loads of slicks
Mrs P has decided she wants to get a bike. She’s had a couple lessons and is going to do her cbt and then decide whether to get a 125 for a year or two or do her full test and get something like a Royal Enfield Hunter.
I’m desperately trying to convince her that what she really wants is this -
She’s not having any of it though.
Tbf the Hunter and the new Honda GB350 look lovely bikes.
New Triumph 400 would be very hard to beat as a bike to grown into rather than grow out of.

Yeah , I’ve shown her that but it’s a grand more than the RE and the Honda though admittedly water cooled and a fair bit more powerful and nicely finished.
If she is going to do her test rather than get a 125 i can see her getting a Honda Rebel 500. She likes the low seat height.
I wouldn’t mind the Honda 350 myself for work , it looks a lovely thing.
Well Mrs P has decided on a 125 for a bit and see if she likes it. Bought a cbf125 for £1000 on the basis that she’ll always be able to get her money back.
My first bike was a 1979 Honda cg125 many years ago so I’m more than happy with her decision. ( I soon changed to an Rd125lc )
I see you got in there quick, before she changed her mind ![]()
Did my CBT on a CG125. Being 6’2” I had to sit on the pillion to be able to ride it without getting cramp! ![]()
She’d pretty much decided she was only going to spend a grand in case it wasn’t for her. We came out of the cinema this afternoon and saw this one was just listed locally. So thought we’d have a look to see just what a grand gets you. It’s a bit tired in places but only had 2 owners and the current one has just passed his car test and comes from a biking family. I dealt with his dad. I don’t think she can go wrong with it.
