The cafe and workshop were in the Cattedown area , near to the waterfront but very much a more industrial type area. The place on the Barbican was the showroom for the Mv Augusta’s etc. they’ve only recently moved to where they are now. That was the old Triumph and Harley dealerships. It does seem a very big place now for a cafe and some quite luxury brands , Mv , Norton , Guzzi and Aprilia. Hope they can make it work.
Hope so too, especially if the H-D and Triumph dealership couldn’t at that location. At least the cafe was busy on a rainy Friday in Oct, but I wonder what it’ll be like on weekdays in Jan / Feb…
Not so much rocket, but lots of fun.
Honda XL185S. Needs a battery… And a whole lot of cleaning. Been in a shed for years.
Maybe time to take number plates off the Multi…cancel the chuffing insurance and the tax …
If I put a pizza delivery box on the back …or wear black hoodie and mask it should be good … If only it was quieter..I’d get away with it …or just a small fine …
Been starting to look at other bikes.
I love my 2000 955 speed triple but starting to hanker after something a bit more modern. Not brand new as I’m a tight arse but just something with Abs , riding modes etc , and a digital dash that I can see!
I’ve no idea what but adventure bikes are out. I’m too midget like.
The eclectic few that I’ve put in my imaginary garage so far are -
Triumph Speed twin 1200
Honda Rebel 1100
Ducati Monster 1200s. ( really like that but worried about servicing and parts cost. Not that I’d use main dealer )
Just been out with father in law today on his newly purchased rebel 500 and it did look comfortable.
The Duc would get my vote, but I’m a repeat offender ![]()
The later the Duc, the better the servicing regime is a good rule of thumb, but best to check the details and your annual mileage may make a difference. It’s likely to be a heart vs head decision anyway.
What is it?
MV Agusta Rush 1000.
Haha, seeing it in a slightly larger font tells me that I’ve been misreading @MVAgusta’s handle for years. I had it as “Augusta”.
Blind old man, I know.
Predictive text tirelessly tries to make Augusta the default spelling.
Looks very special. Maybe if I win the lottery.
It’s a beast, 200 odd bhp.
Mental !
“the downside is that in the real world there is little go below 6000rpm. In fact, the party only really gets going above 80000rpm.
The Rush will certainly pull cleanly from low rpm, and the fuelling is smooth, especially in the Rain mode, but it feels hesitant. Once or twice I attempted to overtake slow-moving traffic in 5th and 6th gear, and the engine felt breathless low down in the power. It’s not slow, over 200bhp is never going to be that, and there isn’t a massive kick of power in the midrange to worry about either, but like the 1000RR the Rush almost has two personalities.
Below 8000rpm it’s mild and will go home early on a school night but anything north of that, especially over 10,000rpm, it wants to throw a TV out of a hotel window and drive a Rolls-Royce into a swimming pool.”
Simply wonderful that such bikes are still built (allowed ?) !
I can’t imagine what the pull of 200hp on a bike feels like. I think my 2000 955 speed triple has 108 from new ?
And I really wouldn’t want any more
A lot depends on the weight and wheelbase of the bike too. The Blackbird (1490 mm wheelbase, 225 kg dry, 164 BHP) doesn’t feel as immediately quick in the midrange as my previous Duc ST4S (1430 mm, 201 kg dry, 117 BHP) and the Duc was more prone to lifting the front wheel despite being less powerful and having a wheelbase only a little shorter than the Bird. Down to V twin midrange torque and a bit less weight I guess, although the Bird will keep pulling harder and harder as the revs climb if you ask it to.
The MV is both light and shorter than I’m used to (1415 mm, 205 kg dry) so I’d expect it would feel absolutely mental once you get into the power band ![]()
