The Milk Float Thread

The fact that such a prevalent use case is unclear seems particularly stupid from HMRC.

Asked at work this morning and apparently it’s a BIK if the employee pays for the charging and the company reimburses them where the payment includes personal mileage.

Weirdly if the company supplies the chargers and pays the electricity bill for it there is no BIK even if it includes personal use/mileage.

Our company changed it to a charging app that the employee pays direct and the rate is set at unit price the company pays for electricity. We then claim back on a per business mile basis via expenses to avoid BIK. It was changed because the electricity bill for the chargers was huge.

There’s no ambiguity, it’s not a benefit in kind as per the link provided about by @MrKettle

Their accountants are shit.

Very nice. I had 8 exceedingly happy years in Brussels (not that I can remember as much as I ought to about it)

Whereabouts will you be?

According to TV ads, a dull-looking 5-door Skoda hatchback (electric, natch) is now a ā€œCoupe.ā€

That word used to mean something else. Seems to have been downgraded.

My niece has just got a Ford Mustang. Now that’s a word that used to have meaning, no longer!

Just nostalgia porn. I drove a V6 in the States with ā€œMustangā€ on the back twenty years ago. It was complete bollocks.

If it has lost its cachet, it was long before the electric one came out

I drove a V6 Sebring a while back, it was absolutely hilarious. No acceleration whatsoever; if you put your foot down all that happened was it made more noise. The Yanks have made some shit engines in their time

My company Tesla goes back at the end of April but my new car isn’t ready till end of June. The lease is basically free so what milk float should I go for in the interim? I’m thinking the C3 thing cause it might have some toys, will it take me two months to work out how shit it is?

3.3m/kWh on the commute this evening.

The Tesla did 3.85 in the 15k miles of its first year

I’m going to look at l a VW ID3 tomorrow.
