The Milk Float Thread

Any idea what the battery work would cost out of warranty?

Iā€™m doomed GregšŸ¤Ø

No G, I could ask next time Iā€™m there.

Be interesting to find out.

Our lease comes to an end in April (4yrs)
Time to decideā€¦ do we hand back, extend to 5yrs or buy it or another used EV. Tempted with the buy outright option - I think it has an 8yr battery warranty.

The DTā€™s devaluation has been staggering. (My 8 yr old petrol Civic has a higher sale value according to webuyanycar.)
As long as it does fuck up in the next 3 yrs buying the DT makes most financial sense, i think.

Yes, I think my battery warranty is 8 years not 10.

Being huge an heavy seems to go with the territory for EVs, mine weighs almost as much as a fucking Range Rover, but not very attractive for a ā€œsportsā€ car, certainly not for me.

I am still in the small and light camp for 2 seaters and this MG is about as far from a MX5 as you can get and still only have 2 seats imo

Yep me too, the speed through the cones test is still a good indicator to me as to whether Iā€™m going to enjoy driving a sporty car, and the heavier the car is the worse it typically performs at this in my experience (or the harder it is to get the damn thing to achieve a decent time).

Really enjoying the Leaf for our local pottering about. Indicated range is about 73 miles on a full charge which is fine for the kind of use itā€™s getting.

I do actually enjoy its quiet wafting about in eco mode with the regen on.

Needs a wash.

I havenā€™t tried using a charger anywhere else (not even sure when Iā€™d need to). I ought to, just to know how it works.

Should have had a smart meter put in today but the engineer came, looked at the meters, which werenā€™t the kind he expected, and said weā€™d need to rearrange which we have. Only when thatā€™s in can we look at more appealing EV oriented tariffs either from British Gas or other providers. It may be that the relatively low demand the carā€™s use represents means weā€™re better off keeping the bulk of our usage at the tariff weā€™re currently on.

Mind you, next summer when the dirty sex pond comes out again, we may want to also be heating that for less overnight.

Just remember to check if they have the same connector as most are type 2 or CCS now and few are around for the leaf type 1/Chademo.

Glad you are enjoying it though they are good cars. Have you got the app setup for pre warming the car before you get in?

Not yet. Presumably youā€™d have it connected to the home charger but not necessarily charging? Iā€™m trying to run it 80 ā†’ 20% each time so not putting it on charge every night.

Sensible for battery life, but take it to 100% and leave it over night charging every now and then to make sure the 12v gets charged :+1:

I donā€™t think you need it plugged in with the app to heat it. But itā€™s been ages since I had one, pretty sure it just needs more than a certain percentage charge only

I need to read the 2 large manuals when I have the spare time.

Strange behaviour, are you unwell?

I might be if I acually get round to it.

That is insane

Hmmmm

After 4 days of not being able to charge on either side*, countless error messages on the app, and a massive ballache, Mrs Craigā€™s Q8 has been at the Audi w@nkers all week.

Audi: ā€œthereā€™s nothing wrong with itā€

This could be get very spicy very quick

(* problem is that it stops charging after a few mins, with an error message. having looked through the app, would anyone care to guess how many times theyā€™ve charged it and for how long?)

The fuckers

Theyā€™ve fixed it

Was rather hoping it was dead

And what was the fix?
