The Milk Float Thread

Ouch :frowning:

Me too, canā€™t get an EV tarriff and donā€™t have the old white meter overnight deal either.
I am looking for a simple night tariff but not hard enough to have got one yet. Mainly web site exasperation.
The stumbling block may be the FIT solar cell system or the early Andersen dispenser but I would actually prefer something which does not require an app and all the faff and passwordisms associated therewith.

If you canā€™t programme a charge time directly through the carsā€™ operating system, then an App is inevitable.
I use the chargerā€™s App to change charge times.
Octopus Go gives seriously discounted rates (8.5p) between 0030 and 0530.

If you have a smart meter (if not you will have to get one) look at Octopus Go and Intelligent Octopus - both good options for EV charging. Go has been excellent for us with the way we use the EV.

Go is less faff than Intelligent, just a one time setup of charging schedule on something (charger or car) to match the cheap period and then plug in or donā€™t. Intelligent is cheaper (7p rather than 8.5p) but requires ongoing app stuff.

We went from Go to Intelligent when we got the ā€œblobby milk floatā€, both are fine with our FIT.

Iā€™ve been with British Gas for a while, hopping around for their best dual fuel tariff deals which, surprisingly, have been pretty competitive. Finally relented & had a smart meter installed last week which now means I can get their EV tariff, 7.9p KWh between midnight & 5 am. They also are offering a half price electricity deal on a Sunday between 11am and 4pm which should be about 12.5p KWh.

I am on Ovo and was going to look into Octopus and British gas but failed to adequately negotiate their web sites. British Gas was the most exasperating, we have had a gas account here for 43 years, when I tried to look into their possibilities they told me I needed an account.
When I fed in the account number and address it requested, copied directly from their most recent letter, it said they didnā€™t match. I gave up immediately.

I am not a patient person and it is costing me money.

I switched from Eon to octopus a few years ago and it was nice and easy. Iā€™d give octopus a call and ask them to switch you.

Possibly, with an account that old, they probably still have an old, outdated post code, as part of your original address.
Try using the old, original post code.
Just a thought.

Yeah, the customer support over the phone is very good tbf. Iā€™ve never used their app / website beyond submitting a gas meter reading.

when I moved house I did everythng through the app, that included scheduling the install of smart gas & leccy meters as the existing were 50yrs old.

Donā€™t think Iā€™ve had a single issue/gripe with octopus, even when the little hub stopped working they fixed it within a day.

Looks like I may be having an extended test drive of the electric Mustang, in the form of a courtesy car whilst mine is repaired, having been appreciably rear-ended yesterday.

I know who came off worst, thatā€™s for sure. Iā€™d be interested to know if the police ever turned up, and whether they took a close look at his tyres. They might have had words at that point.

Learner driver?!

Not entirely sure that he was the learner, tbh - I didnā€™t ask. He accepted full responsibility etc so it shouldnā€™t be too much of a fight to get everything sorted.

Donā€™t be surprised if they try to write yours off as cat D or C or N even with that minor damage.

If they do, take the money and buy it back.

Itā€™s possibly - as well as the panel damage, the rear right wheel is about 3cm further forward than the left hand one, which probably means something internal is quite compromised.

If it has to be jigged (it will) it will likely be a write off.
