I’m with Dave
My 13 yr old Focus diesel (110K) costs £20 road tax, £230 to insure and does 50mpg
Now only doing about 5k miles a year
Had t since 18K and apart from tyres and brakes it has cost me a new battery and starter motor.
All the electronics and bluetooth stuff still works.
I was thinking of going electric but my car dealer next door neighbour talked me out of it!
Reckon I will run this into the ground

After the terribly disappointing A2 E_Tron thingy…

A breath of fresh air. This is cute as a button. I want one. In bright fucking green.

The range is shite, however I have an Alison for longer journeys so fuck it:

Will be interesting to see how Japanese companies respond to BYD’s attempt to take their lunch!

As far as Kei Cars go, there’s a beautiful little Diahatsu that has a certain appeal! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Still managing here for 80% of our driving with the 75ml range of the Leaf and still haven’t charged it away from home.

But the Twingo looks like it might be a good Used buy in a couple of years.

Collected the ID3 from the seller in Brighton yesterday. (I won’t bore you with an explanation as to why we paid a deposit, then got the car three weeks later - it’s a long story ) Huge thanks to Andy @Adpully for chauffeuring me down there in his BYD.

The ID3 is lovely; very quiet, reasonably quick and relaxing to drive. The HUD and adaptive cruise are excellent and the various safety assist features are not intrusive.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the efficiency - despite being the 77kw big battery version and weighing not far short of two tonnes, on a 90% motorway journey of 175 miles cruising just below the speed limit, it managed 4.4 miles/kw! The range is also great, starting with 85% charge, there were 91 miles left in the tank after arriving home.

All good so far - yay!

That system is very good on the Passat GTE. Probably an example of how the legacy manufacturers can be better than Tesla/the Chinese lot at the “car” bit of electric car.

They must have improved from the one I had

I think ours is two or three years newer than yours was, so maybe things were updated. Or it could be a software thing - the earlier models had lots of bugs and glitches apparently. Our is on the latest 3.8.1 software.

VW. Get it built please:

Bang on.

Haha I’ve not read this thread since 2022. Comments about 165 mile ranges seem so old hat now.

I’m thinking about the new Ionic 9 all the time. I went and sat in one the other day. It was very well appointed. Hyundai have really upped their game. I was super impressed.

Mind you I also sat in the new iX5 yesterday and now nothing else will get close. Rolls Royce levels of refinement. Dammit. Got to try and block the spendy thing out and concentrate on reality.

Any sickies here?

Guilty as charged

The biggest thing must be driving style, the effect of regen and instant torque need careful modulation when passengers are in the car.
