The Milk Float Thread

Bah, just had an email saying my car is being delayed. Too popular apparently. No date given.

Me too, cant say I am that bothered since the price wont change.

Unless there’s a delay beyond Brexit

Shush.

Even if the car is total vaporware it’ll be here before Brexit is delivered I reckon

:crossed_fingers:

@loo how was the Tesla showroon ?

Topics collide. Mind blown.

Crazy. Nothing like a conventional one. Went to Westfield because my wife knows a couple of the blokes. Apart from the X,S and 3 it’s more like a phone shop. It is difficult to really stand back and have a good look at the cars, they seem massive and overly impressive in the small unit they have. You were right about waiting times, was told it would be February but you have to book online. The 3 they had looked really nice but I get the feeling actually buying one would be an utter PITA. Compared to the BMW dealership it was quite frustrating.

Read that on a Tesla forum. You have to be prepared to completely reset your notion about the traditional experience of buying a car, mainly because tesla can do whatever the fuck they want at the moment.

Reminds me a lot of Apple in the early days of the iPhone. Very disruptive and giving no fucks to anyone.

Good comparison, very much like early Apple. Our way or fuck off.

The 3 was very impressive to climb over. It was nicely put together, I loved the spartan futuristic interior, very spacious and airy. The bit I hate is the rear quarter it is just wrong and spoils the look of an otherwise nice car.

Bit like the Directors of my last company, so we all fucked off :joy:

Buying a Tesla is supposed to be as online as possible. The showrooms are only there because people expect them. Book test drive. Car arrives at your house, you whizz about in it for a bit, decide you want or (or not), configure and buy online then car turns up x weeks later.
Keeps the price down supposedly.

Conversely, car showrooms from premium brands make you suspect they must operate with massive margins because clearly 30% of the income goes on the fancy showroom on the prime location with the accompanying huge number of staff

hmm out of town industrial estates around here.

Tesla in MK has a ‘showroom’ in the Intu shopping center and occasional presence in the ‘electric car showcase’ in the CMK part. The ‘service center’ is in an industrial estate on the outskirts of town.

Near @anon14766838 and me you have the slightly bizarre situation of supercar showrooms in shitty out-of-town industrial estates. Mclaren, Aston, Porsche…

that is exactly what i was referring to. Jaguar Landrover also have a full showroom there. It looks like Lambo and Bentley might have “off shoot” sales locations there as well. Audi is elsewhere on another little industrial estate.

Conveniently, a newly built private hospital has opened next door to the Porsche dealer. I can have a Boxtox topup whilst the Targa is in for TLC.

Is that for the footpedal cankle??
