Your argument is invalid.

Fact of the day: more cobalt is used to remove sulphur from petroleum than is used in the manufacturing of EV batteries.

This is quite the thing. There’s a GM EV1 sitting abandoned in an Atlanta car park. Why is that unusual? Well, it’s not supposed to exist (GM tried to scrap them all) and it’s therefore extremely valuable.

We have actually just put a deposit on a Tesla. Just one without wheels or a motor…

That’s a local (to me) firm. I’m told he’s just recently sold a licence to Tesla. It’ll be interesting to see how that pans out.

these the same people?

Yes. Supposedly he’s just sold some rights to this tech to them.

Home battery system?

Yep, Powerwall. Will probably cost more than it saves over 10 years but worthwhile from an eco point of view through taking out peak demand.

Presumably you’ll switch to an economy 7 system (or the octopus one), and charge it up then to release over the day?

Having a sophisticated system that knew how much solar charge to expect and to allow for that would be cool. I wonder if anything does that.

Octopus Go, when we can get a smart meter put in.

The trouble with economy 7 is the higher rates for daytime use, if youre generating and storing, makes no sense. Though for winter use i can see the point of a switch
