The Mince Pie Thread

Excessive dusting fail. How many times have we mentioned this?

How many you want? Not that it’s likely the kids will allow it. Alex has just made 3 of them disappear on his own!

You’ve taken the French thing too far. C’est juste honteux. Surtout après l’incident de la marmelade.

With the commercial ones, is the barely cooked thing to stop them getting misshapen?

Shame about the bottom right one.
Probably best to do another 12.:+1:

We have all the ingredients :+1:

Haha! :joy:

No, it is the short crust one:

A pro cook friend of ours, on consultation last night said it is fantastic and she was right. They do look like vol au vents though…

I mistakenly tried the puff version last year. Disaster. But having tried the shortcrust version as well I think it has a taste. Making your own pastry isn’t really that hard but I think it does taste nicer. Give it a go. Really doesn’t take long.

Will give it a go on Saturday and compare. I cheated on the mince too; I used a Waitrose one and pimped it with lemon zest, cognac and fresh apple. Really good! I was a bit miffed that I could only find one with Vege suet…
