I was pretty sure that Elon felt he had bought the Presidency in all but name, but the degree to which he’s running things is fucking terrifying, both from an intension perspective, and from one of competence.
It’s going to be a bloodbath.

Definitely. Again, on two potential fronts. There’s going to be a lot of people killed by the incompetence, but I do seriously wonder if there’s going to be an actual attempt at a coup/revolution. I don’t see much indication that they’re throwing any bones to the rank-and-file MAGA crowd, and their steps are already making things a lot worse for them financially. And from what I can see, it’s mostly the MAGA lot that has all the guns and the propensity to use them.
Yes, people will die due to these policies. All this is the libertarian agenda being implemented - remove inconvenient restrictions around safety, the environments, etc. so that the likes of Musk can pillage like the robber barons of old.
The other deaths will come when people twig and Trumps brownshirts, who are regrouping will suppress dissent with violence.
Maybe I’m being over dramatic. We shall see!
What I’m fascinated by is who of the current MAGA lot stay with him and who start to oppose him.
You have a a constituency who filter everything by ‘fake news’ and Truth Social, and are incapable of independent rational or critical thinking. They will still be singing his praises as everything is destroyed around them. It will all still be the fault of the liberals and deep state.
I fear you are right, and I’m being foolishly optimistic in hoping there are some avenues that mean a chunk suffers enough that they rebel. But as has been quite well documented, people will put up with a lot of shit as long as someone is getting shafter more than they are.
