I remember a tv programme a few years back about these things. There was one woman in Iirc her 60’s who had one and treated it like a real baby, dressing it in fresh clothes every morning, pushing it around in a pram, changing it and putting it to bed etc. I think there was some kind of tragic back story like she’d lost a baby or a grandchild. When they asked her husband what he thought of it, he started saying it gives his wife some comfort, but then his patience obviously ran out and he just blurted out in front of his Mrs, “Actually, I think it’s just bloody creepy…” and the poor woman just dissolved into tears . It was quite disturbing really.
