The shit that does merit its own thread

Might have a chat with the Heritage Collections team at work, although suspect a bit too risky.

They do have this excellent Grayson Perry piece though tucked away on the Cttee Room floor in Portcullis House. It is in a public area although is terribly lit.

Keep zooming in and you see why it’s so good. I haven’t spotted meat-men but we should be represented.

Footage from a ships camera of the earthquake at Iskenderun Port Turkey

That is fucking surreal - the way the non-floating dock bobs around while the ship stays eerily still! :open_mouth:

Suspect that was the fastest the crane operator had come down those stairs ever.

It’s incredible - the forces involved are mind boggling.

I also suspect he left a trail behind him :grinning:

I’d been to California a few times before I was finally earthquaked. It was a small one - Richter 5.4 - popped a few supermarket windows and toppled stuff off their shelves. I thought it would be exciting and exhilerating. It wasn’t. It was just very frightening. I was asleep on the 7th or 8th floor of a hotel and sharing the room with a colleague who’d lived in CA most of his life. I asked him if we should run from the building. He said no. If this was the big one then we wouldn’t get down the stairs in time. If it wasn’t then there was no need to get out of bed. Go back to sleep. There were even smaller aftershocks the next day when we were in the hotel basement, where the meeting rooms were. Those shut everyone up for half a minute.

Hahaha, I caught the backwash of a “(something or other) isn’t proper trad” bitch-fest on Twitter the other day.

I can only imagine the issues the the Folk Police would have with Nile Rodgers
