On the one hand all but one hit was above the waterline, and with no fuel or munitions on board there’s no potential for a catastrophic explosion. Seems to have taken just one torpedo to finish the job. On the other - she was entirely stationary and deploying no counter-measures, so pretty much a big boys version of plinking tin cans with an air-rifle.
Torpedo last, they tend to be fairly terminal for a hull. This was an old Rothesay Class vs Spearfish. Torpedo explodes under the hull forming a bubble that expands, when it contacts the hull the bubble implodes and punches up. Did have a phot of a 10ft hole punched right through a ship, from the keel to the top deck off the superstructure, can’t find it now.
It’s almost as if you know about this stuff ![]()
Probably not a bad outcome for the staff although there’ll probably be some redundancies.
Massive CP to private equity cunts who’ve destroyed yet another viable company by using it as borrowing collateral for a leveraged buyout.
It was listed on the London Stock Exchange, but was taken over by private equity in 2021.
Since then, the firm has built up debt while losing customers, leaving it unable to pay some of those it owes money to.
I kinda think that in such deals, the bank is closer to equity, and so should rank lower than trade creditors.
I realise that changing the ranking would basically kill the leveraged buyout business, but I’m failing to see the downside!
Hadn’t realised they were in such a bad way, and certainly agree to a cockpunch to private equity. Not sure of many examples of where a private equity company has made the purchased company much more profitable and successful. Although apparently Pets at Home is one example.
Reminds me of a line in an R4 comedy afternoon years back:
Cub:
“Mummy, what does lifestyle mean?”
Parent:
“It’s not what rich people have instead of a life”
‘Lifestyle’ system:
“sick”… ![]()
Shoulda been in the cockpunching thread.
Meh !
Weird, only half an hour ago a very old memory surfaced for no obvious reason.
Edinburgh early 90s a man tried to rape one of the (now) wife’s colleagues. He didn’t succeed but he beat her very badly before she got away.
A couple of weeks later the office den mother brought a guy in. He was an ex local copper and his thing was delivering a course in how to really fuck up a man if he attacks you.
So, not all wronguns.
I am considering getting a handmade Chinese teapot for my son for Xmas and came across this site
It has real Affordable Valve Company vibes, it seems to me. Front page is just a huge scroll of rant.
I especially liked the policy of having all products they have ever had on their website, which for handmade stuff is every single item having a separate entry. And then there’s no way to filter them, so basically everything you see is “sold out”, presumably unless you skip to page 256 or whatever.
To be true to the spirit of AVC it would have not to tell you how the pot could be washed. If you wanted your pot cleaned then you would have to send it back to them. You’d also have to buy all your tea leaves from them.
Furthermore if you passed it onto your son then any guarantees of functionality would expire as he isn’t the original purchaser.
Daren’t show this to our donkeys, they are quite militant.
You’ve got donkeys, I love donkeys ![]()
