The shit that does merit its own thread

Then get an estate.

The only thing for us about car size is that we want enough space behind the rear seats so the KettleJnrs aren’t in the rear crumple zone (not many videos of rear impact around but a comparison of a Golf and equivalent Bora showed that we really didn’t want a Golf for that reason). That in itself takes out pretty much all SUVs in reality as well.

As with most things american they come over here.

When I was in Texarse I had a chat with a workmate about SUVs and his argument was that “it’s for my families safety”

They think that being in a bigger car/SUV than others is going to make them safer

There’s an additional issue they’re starting to experience over there with the big pickups - they’re now so high up, there’s an enormous blind spot at the front of the truck that they just cannot see into, and there’s been a marked increase in kids just getting mown down by these fuckers.

Yeah, but, that’ll mostly be other people’s kids. You wouldn’t own a huge SUV if you cared about other people.

Ime the use of aircon in an ICE car results in a very minimal increase in fuel consumption, so much so Ive genuinely never noticed it.

If you want to save fuel inflate your tyres correctly, slow down and brake less.

American pick ups, as opposed to SUVs, are the most dangerous vehicle on the road. Occupants are 2.5 times more likely to be seriously injured or killed. In one or two of the safer, not safe just safer, varients the cab frontal protection is an option.

Indeed, most are very, very old designs with redesigned body panels every few years, and are still body-on-frame construction, which means little-or-no effective crumple-zones plus horrific fragility when they get old and rusty (as little as 5 years in some models/states), and despite being high centre-of-gravity, most have poor rollover protection…

I just googled “stitch bodies together”

apparently the areas in red are forecast to be underwater by 2050.

Me, Maureen and the alpacas haven’t got long to evolve gills and flippers.

Broseley Festival this weekend. Not bad for a town of 4,500 people. Every year the high street is buzzing and all the pubs packed. First since the Covid disruption. Tickets £18.00 for the weekend.

Have you a link to the map?

not looking great for Pompey in 2030 either :crossed_fingers:

Use the same map to look at the Netherlands.
There’s bugger all left

It’s land below sea level, doesn’t mean it’s going to be inundated.

away with your logic, I can live in hope that pompey will be underwater by 2030.

My house will be fine, I will just need to buy a boat.
