I’ve long been something of an apologist for royalty, viewing them as a tourist-revenue attracting ‘people-zoo’, but had been unaware of the scope and nature of crown immunity. Clearly, much of the private immunity mentioned has to go.
Unfortunately some blanket immunity exists to allow things like the military, civil service, police, &c to function, most-especially in times of crisis. Evidently a major re-draft is needed…

Are they always called cougars in your area, as opposed to mountain lions or pumas?
Mildly surprised that that is unusual. I saw one stroll across the car-park of Sam’s former apartment in San Fran - I’d just looked out of the window at ~1am to try to see why every bird and beast (esp. dogs) around was going nuts…
That was unusual - young male looking for territory and hugging the coast passing through the city - but not unprecedented as we were 5mins walk from the Golden Gate, and apparently it’s a bottleneck for such individuals. Permanent community of coyotes on The Presidio too, and I think cougar’s will predate them when nothing else is available.
