Unleaded solder innit. Always looks shite.
This stuff is good as far as unleaded goes:
But it is horrifically expensive.
Must just be me, but I find a 3mm āscrewdriverā tip works for everything - sideways on for hefty stuff, tip-on for fiddly, &c.
Well, Iām sure you can āmake it workā, but it can make life easier. In general itās best to use the biggest tip you can to allow good heat conduction. Obviously within the limits of avoiding bridging etc.
Flux:
Pb-free and soldering beginners is a combo that leads to woe, IME; go leaded, make life easy; only manufacturers are compelled to use Pb-free.
I do agree.
But I can be hard to get hold of. I tried to order leaded from RS and they canceled my order.
I tend to use wbt lead free with a temp controlled iron, best lead free i have used by a wide margin, but also horrifically expensive
Nice to use leaded every now and again for repairs, sooo much easier
I inherited quite a few 500g reels of it when JPW closed down. Surprised at the cost of it now.
Happy to help you free up shelf space
I have some stashed, but Iāve no idea where I put it
Somewhere safe
Yes, quite.
Something like this for leaded?
Have 3 small reels of the leaded stuff. Plus plenty more I can use at work.
Donāt like using the lead free stuff. Just less nice to work with.
Canāt tell the difference with small amounts of silver tbh.
From now on it is this every time
I have sent Bob some Sil-pads.
Iād look for one with 2% silver (62/36/2 alloy)

Interestingly enough, or not at all, lead free solder is not used on stuff going in to space. Has to be yer leaded stuff.
Summat to do with tin whiskers forming on the lead free stuff.
Yeah, lead free is shit.
