Time for a fucking slice of Battenburg

Just making my way through a chicken kebab. Will report back as soon as I am ready to review.

Really looking forward to it, actually!

Spice to sweet, the BEST way.

Too much of both which now means I haven’t done either for a long time.
Although addictions and diabetes were not happening at the same time :grinning:

I gathered that you had done too much of everything from reading a few of your posts on here. I’ll call it a voice of experience  Fair play to you for getting through it, a lot of people can’t escape. Not sure how long you are sober but you are clearly through the worst of it.

Sobriety didn’t cure you of being a pedantic cunt though ;-p

It was 21 years on Jan 8th at 12.50.
I can be quite pedantic about the time as that is when I had my last drink, left the pub, got in a mates car and was admitted into hospital at 1.00

So yes some things haven’t changed :grinning:

That’s not inspiring me. Go the Kevin route first, drugs will elevate it to an 11/10.

There is no difference to the taste; both have a robust Marzipan flavour to them. :sunglasses:

You’re lucky in a way that you could walk into a hospital with the condition and get the support you needed, Folk moan about Tony Blair but under the tories currently they would be charging you for the directions to a bridge and claiming your insurance for the river recovery

I wasn’t inferring you were suicidal bay any means, just making a point there is no help for anyone now. If you’re not rich you need to sink or swim. Unfortunately that means sink for a lot of people who don’t have any wealth behind them.

In consideration of the Battenburg,

To my shame I’ve encountered a previously unnoticed prejudice.
Lodged deeply in a mind pothole is the notion ‘Battenburg is a woman’s cake’.

I kind of boogie with the ‘it’s good when stoned’ train of thunk; then again I used to toast bread with a Zippo lighter.

Hmmm. I think the only way to solve this culinary conundrum is a democratic fucking vote…

On a point of detail, on Easter Sunday morning Mrs VB got a full X-ray CT, the following Thursday a contrast X-ray CT, the Friday a consultant appointment, the Thursday after that a lung function test, the Friday a sigmoidoscopy, the Monday a PET scan, the Tuesday a bronchoscopy and a series of ultrasound-guided biopsies, two days ago another consultant appointment and also one with the specialist nurses and on Monday (yup, a bank holiday) she’ll have an MRI scan both of her torso and chest and of her head. And if those go OK we can hear a thoracic surgical team thundering in and at some point (TBD) they’ll fit an echocardiogram in too. We’ve paid for all this only through the NHS. So while it has got big holes/stretches in it, there are some impressive parts still working.

There’s a 1950s flashback exchange over the impossibility of making your own Battenberg in this film

It’s the only thing I can remember from it.

Back in his heyday Eamomn Holmes was able to consume a whole large batternberg cake in one. Straight down the hatch, no messing about.

Could this be the cake you can have and eat?
