Auction, some idiot will over pay. That is destined to be posh flats, makes no financial sense as a house.
Over a million in that just to keep HE off your back, never mind making it a home. Plus the agreement with ‘The Delevoper’ sounds a bit scary. Historic England are English Heritage just a new name.
Same old pedantic ridiculous cunts laying down the law.
Would be a nice house though.
I have a lot of experience dealing with EH. The worst set of individuals I’ve ever had the displeasure of **negotiating with.
**there is no negotiating, it’s their way or the highway.
Exactly my experience too. If I could be bothered to type it I could tell a tale of the most ridiculous pedantry. Even when they are wrong and presented with historical evidence proving it, they won’t back down. Fucking wooden tops.

There’s absolutely no point in me in even trying to obfuscate on that. There’s just too much evidence out there.
I have some friends doing up a grade II listed in St Albans, a sixteenth century former coaching inn. There was a random plank of wood in the ceiling of a bedroom, probably from the 1960s, and they had a dispute with EH over whether they could remove it. It had no architectural merit (it’s a plank of cheap wood), and has no link to any interesting historical period for the place, but it was there, and changing anything was a pain.
My last place they asked me if I would like to have it grade II listed, I told them to fuck off, why ask for a load of pain.
“Would sir like to self administer a massive cockpunch?”
I have a mate who, many years ago, worked briefly for EH. When he heard we were looking at Victorian places he jokingly suggested that he could get a colleague to threaten anywhere we had in mind with listing. He reckoned that when word got out it would knock 10-20% off the market value. Of course once we’d made the purchase he’d have to make sure that the listing never happened.

So, basically he was a crook then
Well I guess he would have been, and I’d have been an accessory, if it hadn’t been a joke. He became Professor of Archaeology at a well-known local university instead. Handy bloke with a mesolithic bow and arrows and a dab hand at flint knapping.

Could be quite useful after Brexit then
His wife (museum curator) is not best pleased about that. She was American until a few years ago when some draconian change of the tax rules meant she pretty much had to give up her citizenship. So she became a Brit. Then Brexit happened.

Scalford bake off reincarnation planned. Dates please Wayne.
We had an old church in Brum that was falling down but the Victorian society refused to allow it to be scrapped . A nice tornado hit the place and surrounding houses looking like the ira had blown the place up. Did us a great favour as it was demolished and brand spanking new one nearby now with a massive health centre on the old site
This evening I have been mostly been forced to look at many, many, many seemingly identical holiday resorts and be expected to proffer an opinion on them.
My criteria are simple: Warm, nice beach with snorkeling potential, all inclusive, but within reasonable walking/taxi distance from a nice town/village just for a change of scene/cuisine every few days, preferably out of the EU for tax free trinket purchasing (fancy a nice watch).
Do not tell me how much it costs, because I can’t help comparing it to stuff that lasts longer than a fortnight…
Claire says “How about Cape Verde? Look at the resort it’s gorgeous”
“Cool, what else is there to do, any nice ruins or stuff?”
“Err, no, there’s pretty much fuck all else on the island apart from the resort…”

Do the IRA explosions have a particular look then? As opposed to any other explosions.
Cheaper than a tape addiction.
