Local dive site, Eccleston Delph . Not the best site and vis is usually poor, as it was was for much of today, but its 20 mins from home so very convenient. We’re going to the better site next week at Capernwray. We’re very fortunate having 2 sites within an hour.
Target for this this year is to dive Wastwater in the Lake District, but its pretty remote and deep so we need to be up to the task…
Bloke I work with dives but hasn’t been for a while, he used to do Scapa each summer for a few years.
Has trouble with his back, so not sure if he will continue.
We’ll hopefully get to Scapa sometime, but with under 16s at home, a weekend away isn’t really feasible. Anglesea might be possible for a daytrip though…
…watching electricians working. We put in an outside socket and power to the new shed. I also got a brand new, scored for £20 from the junk shop, light for my listening room:
One big bonus of all this is that the American style Fridge/Freezer that has loomed in our hall since last November when we gutted the kitchen has departed for the shed. The hall looks ok now:
Will be staying above 40m. I’ve not done any Tec or deco training so will be taking it very carefully, within the bounds of the PADI deep course we have done. Nearest deco chamber is Liverpool I think - 3 hours or so from Wastwater…
Times have changed much for the better. My and Jan’s first open water dive was 20m on 4th Jan in a wetsuit with a water temp of 4 degrees! I had no gloves. It was Stoney Cove.
That was the norm in those days, mid 70’s. Her Majesties Forces. I did my training on a twin hose valve and a very early ABLJ. We were taught to breathe off the ablj cylinder in an emergency.
We used to go to places like Ullapool for 3 weeks, 3 dives a day, 1 day off. Seemed normal in those days.
