Today I have mainly been V4.0 (Part 1)

^ this ^

Hard to believe we’re in the same cuntry as Guy &c TBH - it was lovely here at the weekend, and the rain’s been stopped for a week now, but yesterday and today have been cold, damp, intensely gloomy grey, and the fields and tracks are still part-flooded and muddy - and this region is supposed to have the lowest rainfall in the UK!

I think it is the driest part of the country but a good steep hill helps it on it’s way to the sea whereas clay is great for lining ponds.

Yea but you’ll still have all the sun in summer. Admittedly it’s a strange time for you as East Anglia is normally either Arctic or sub Saharan.

This has been our fifth winter here, and each one has been longer and wetter than the last - hoping the trend will reverse at some point; as Cosmo says, you notice it more when it has nowhere to go, too!

Mountain-biking round Fernworthy forest, and the lake. Beautiful day and perfect conditions. Met up with a mate also on bike. The only photo I took was of a stone row that we happened upon in the forest, which I must return to investigate further.

Do you camp when you go for the folk week, or is there enough accommodation if you book early ?.

It is difficult to get self catering accommodation in the town. You get the opportunity to rebook for the following year so many families have booked the same place for years.

We stayed in Beer and in a hotel before managing to drop on a lovely apartment which we rebook. Sweet Combe are the best agents for self catering accommodation.

You can get hotel B&B if you book early, although many of the hotels are pricy.

If you have a campervan the cricket club is a great spot. The main campsite is about a mile out of town but there is a shuttle bus. The campsite is lively with a large marquee holding concerts and late night dances every day.

Cheers :+1:

Checking out my new to me(unissued sold off MOD) doserate meter.

I thought you had got hold of some tritium and were going to offer a re application service.

Clever bloke who works for me built his own and calibrated it using gas mantles for lamps. They are coated with thoroum.

Wow that’s impressive!

If people want old radioactive lume removed I do it in oil so I don’t breath it in. Otherwise if working on the stuff I just take care not to disturb any or make any dust of it.

Just checked a tritium watch I have here and nothing from it behind the glass and just a little beeping when removed. This old stuff (pre ww2) though sets it off good and proper.
