Leading a walk for the first time in four months. Only 6 miles but it included some interest - a bog-like valley
with a vertiginous exit
then a good track across heather moor
before a bracken-clad holloway back down
and a river to cool feet in before the finish
I spy Vizsla.
they smokin a phat one?
Could be, not in our party and no idea. It was a young one who wasn’t sure about the water. Then someone arrived with a spaniel and the two of them went mad, chasing in and out of the river.
Health and Safety Line Manager Essentials. I have upset the facilitator by answering that “death” was a consequence of all the scenarios he presented…
Halden Hill?

If the stepping stones are over the Derwent then I was there on Tuesday, we had a walk from Hathersage
Yes, the Derwent, downstream from Bamford station. River very low now.
We started from Mytham Bridge and went up through Shatton then around above Abney. Back down through Offerton.
Winding up the self appointed guardians of society on a local area (nearest town) Facebook page. The amount of bedwetting over a gate that wasn’t closed properly in the church yard, and a bin being knocked over in the recreation ground is astounding.
I had the temerity to suggest that people might not have much going on in their lives if they get so upset by trivialities. I even offered my expert opinion on locations for storage of such complaints.
The subsequent storm cloud smelling of Ralgex and piss engulfing the area suggests that my job here is done.
Trolling the local gammon Terry? Isn’t that akin to shitting on your own doorstep. The local WI will be out to get their crochet hooks into you for such temerity. You should be doffing your cap obsequiously and behaving with due deference you imported bad influence you.
We only use the town for lite shopping and driving through. Fucking weird place.

It’s got Calnan’s though. Unless you reckon that’s in a village too and you’ve set your sights further afield …
Calnan’s, The Undercroft, and the Orange Bakery are it’s only redeeming features.
More importantly - are the pizzas safe? All else can just fuck right off
Oh yes. We (and the pizzas) are a couple of miles away from the nutters and try-too-hards.
Having a pleasant several pints with @mickbald and Jan and Bob (Mick’s brother) and Basil and Barley.
I can’t believe that the first hand I’ve shook in well over a year has been that of a Meatman!
Seems appropriate, given how this forum has helped me through long covid and enabled me to near bankruptcy.
