We booked Norn Iron tickets for Christmas today.
They were surprisingly reasonable, which makes me more than a bit suspicious given that the entire diaspora seems to go “home” at that time of year.

IOS has lost thousands of Autumn (mainly Oct) birders through taking the piss with prices. Not just accommodation either. Food, drinks, ferries…
In the late 90’s there were ~3,500 birders across the islands, I bet they’re lucky if they peak at 500 now, from what I’ve been told.
Most of the old stalwarts come to Shetland now. Cheaper, much better access to sites and more rare birds.
I hate to say it, but I wonder if they think they are luckier (they’d sooner have the spendthrift rich taverymuch)

No, because it was only the birders that went there that extended the season to the end of Oct. The season is pretty much done by end Sep now.

Mostly sorting through stuff in the music room and deciding what stuff is staying and what is going in the big clear out of stuff.
Tbh, I’ve already sold a few bits of stuff, cartridge, phono stage and an integrated amp, but plenty more stuff to go.
