Being informed that this Friday night, our garden, such as it is, is the After Prom party venue for FoL#2 Lauren’s group of friends. Lauren is one of the popular kids, so fuck knows how many are going to rock up.
Naturally this requires me to mow the lawn tomorrow (in the rain, no doubt), clean the patio of dog egg remnants and de-spider the covered deck area.
Then on Friday act as a sodding bouncer, on my fucking birthday!
There was nearly progress on that the other day, we went to see a friend of a friend of a friends horse. She’d paid £16k for it during lockdown and was selling it for £2k so it was totes legit.
It was absolutely stunning, 3yo chestnut Irish Hunter, groomed so it looked varnished. Rode beautifully, if a bit frisky.
She was up front and told us it had an eye problem which meant it couldn’t compete in show jumping at the really high level she’s at, but would be fine for lower level stuff, and wouldn’t need any vet attention, so that’s not a massive problem.
What we hadn’t been told was that it was a total psycho in the company of other, presumably not as posh, horses and had to be kept stabled in a stand alone stable and have it’s own field, otherwise it kicks the shit out of whatever it can reach
Naturally the girls said it just needed socialising and blah blah blah…
That was the first thing Claire said and has drawn up a guest list.
Need to see if my black bomber jacket and combats still fit. And practice my “You ain’t on the list, you ain’t getting in!” schtick. And find my baseball bat. Or perhaps my cricket bat might lend a bit more gravitas?
I guess that might have been the case with this one Mick, It’s a shame, he’s fine with people, but he’d be going into a smallish stables with shared fields. If it was just the odd random tantrum, then it’d probably be OK, they all do that, but this one is seriously antisocial. He’ll make a good horse for someone with their own paddock and stable.
Steady on! These things can’t be rushed like that. The girls will need PhDs in veterinary studies obviously before anything precipitate like opening @Rob998’s wallet and spending his favourite money on Shergar’s sister.
FoL#1 Ellie is probably not going to Uni, she’s probably going to do a veterinary nurse apprenticeship, or do a vet nurse degree at her current FE college who are introducing it next year. Either way she’s going to be hanging around for the foreseeable.
Insurance would have been collected by the owner so I figure dog food was the order of the day once the INLA cottoned on that there was no money coming.
