The win you got
She justified it by saying we could have her old wheelbarrow (ÂŁ10 from Morrisons) for the garden, which has been shifting shit for about 3 years now and the tyre is a bit squishy and Goldie kicked it so itâs a bit bent and weâll have to use Claireâs car to move it because it wonât fit in a Polo
Weâve been away for 8 days and so tomorrow I start to collect 8 days of shit. Heâs a shire cross so probably 8 very large barrow loads.
Heâs called Bryn (Welsh for mound) and weâve had him since he was 11 months old. Heâs 29 years old now
Ah, cleaning the paddock, what a joy that is. Does he get ridden still or is he retired?
âBrynâ translates as âhillâ, I think.
Trying to remember the Welsh my late Dad shared with me.
After 8 days you will have a âbryn cachuâ to deal with.
Malvern, where Iâm from, is a corruption of Moel Bryn, âbare hillâ IIRC.
Wales is really just over the fence. My motherâs side of the family were Welsh as Heck.
We were told it was mound or hill.
You wouldnât want to push that full of concrete
I recall going to work for a builder when aged 18 & thinking there couldnât be much easier than pushing a wheelbarrow around. Soon changed that opinion once I tried moving sloppy concrete about or pushing a barrow full of rubble up a batten into a skip.
Poopickers need a lecky Powerbarrow. Not so much for the powered wheel, but the rear bogie wheels mean no lift and push. The disadvantage is the hopper tips, but not quite far enough to shoot the load (ooer missus) so you have to hoick it out, over your personally lasted Oxfords. All in all your knees and back will thank you. I look after the physical needs and emanations of three donkeys.
At last the garden furniture prep for winter is completed. After 4 years of neglect, Iâve sanded, cleaned and applied two coats of teak shield to the two coffee tables and bench, what a ball ache, but they do look good, almost brand new. Only a weather protector next season to go and complete the job, once the natural greying patina has taken place. Love that bench â the wonder benchâ, I can sit there for hours wondering how to get out of household chores or whatâs happening in the world, the best ÂŁ400 ever spent. Lower back giving me gip though, perhaps some internal lubrication called for along with paracetamol and ibrobrufen a little later.
My initial feeling was to apply teak oil but this apparently destroys the natural water repellant oils within the teak. A teak shield has been applied that inhibits mould, mildew and stains yet still allows the teak to age naturally. A teak water proofing agent next that doesnât destroy the teak oils and will inhibit uv ageing once the desired colour has been achieved. A right ball ache but if it works well worth it.
Doing extra prep for work because of others causing all manner of logistical fuckwittery. Also started the hunt for new speakers. Annoyingly @Mrs_Maureen_OPinion has stolen the ones Iâd been vaguely keeping an eye on.
Didnât you recently have a pair of triangles?
They have been protecting teak on boats for many years.
Teak Oil is used all the time and is certainly better than not treating.
We used this for a few years
I did up to about 18 months ago back when I was in France. Had the Peak Consults since I came back to the UK but they went this morning.
If I can find a set of Magellans, these will be up for sale again - Iâll give you first refusal.
âŚor how about doing things properly with a set of DreiklangsâŚ?
