Today I have mainly been V5.0 (Part 3)

Would warming the plastic up gently with a hair dryer first make it any easier to get off ?

I only suggest this as it’s the only way to get certain types of plastic decals off a bike frame.

Disappointingly, no - usually works a treat with most things like this - but just made the room smell nastily of hot plastic, which set the dog off sneezing…

You sure it wasn’t supposed to be left on :joy:

All associated fuckery aside, were you not put off by the fact that the photo makes it very clear that it’s cunting hideous?

Congratulating my wife on being made CRO at her company (risk, not revenue).

It’s a big step, but they make it worth her while!

No chance of that working for this lot :frowning:

Went out with my daughter’s boyfriend for a drink tonight. I don’t feel pissed but I can only focus on the screen with one eye shut

Donated my body to medical science.

Was invited to take part by my GP in a Cancer Research/UCL run trial of an improved approach to Prostrate Cancer Screening. They do a standard PSA blood test but also do as part of the LIMIT study a MRI scan. This was expected to be around 10-15 mins and if rolled out as a standard approach would be much better than just PSA test for early identification.

Had a first attempt at a MRI scan last week at UCLH in a 60cm bore machine but afraid it’s not really designed for AA sized men.

Repeated today at the Macmillan Centre round the corner (very familiar due to Yvonne’s treatment) in their 70cm bore machine. In this case 10 cm make a big difference.

Took a bit longer than planned as the cable for the torso plate they put on you wasn’t seated properly and one of the scans errored. Overall not too bad an experience although the best of Fleetwood Mac music they fed into the headset seemed to be stuck in their 90’s phase. Not that I heard much, it was more like a 80bps drone dance track most of the time.

All being well they won’t find anything. :crossed_fingers:

I wrote the spec and led the operator’s side of the procurement for the MRI scanners in the new Royal Liverpool , we went for wide-bore machines as the general population seems to be getting bigger not just meat men. That was in 2014 , I retired in 2016 and the hospital finally opened in 2022 so I never got to see them in action.

The MRI scanners in the Royal and the new Clatterbridge are superb. I went to the Paddington Community Diagnostic Centre arond the corner from the new Royal last week. That machine is snug for me and I’m a little 'un. It’d be impossible for the AA proportioned candidate…

I also see there are open ones on the market, like the ones below. I guess though they aren’t as good as the donut ones. Out of interest what is the rough cost of one, or are most of the costs built into the maintenance, and I guess licence costs.

Going back 10 years and from what I can remember the average was around £800 k , but prices varied with which surface coils (the “plate” over your pelvis) and software packages you needed, e.g were you doing cardiac imaging or higher end neuro. ? . The service contract was priced separately but applications support was generally included.

Got to play with this the other day.

It’s a DaVinci surgical robot. This spec is £1.8 Million. Of course as engineers we stuck the headset and gloves on and danced about like eejits, a bit like this:
realsteel
X.
