To the “Outlaws” exhibition at the London Fashion and Textile museum.

Basically the mid-80s alternative and fairly far-out fashion, centred on Leigh Bowery.

My main take away was that the scenesters were completely decimated by AIDS.

Also a bit weird to see your outfit of the time staring back at you from a museum piece.

I had both the red roses and the yellow with deep and meaningless Hebrew script.

It seems that although I had no idea, I was right place, right time and shopped at Kensington Market and Hyper Hyper which were the nexus of the scene.

Felt unusually tired after a hand-axing session on Weds, then Thursday the nose and throat kicked in. Not too bad, thankfully, though I’ve had 3 quiet days in the house.

Hope you are feeling better soon Dave,

Thanks. Symptoms are mild so I’m fine, but annoyingly I think I’ll have to miss the June Tabor / Oysterband gig in Leicester.

Been to Silverstone to watch the Brother-In-Law race in the Classic Formula Ford 1600 event.
A sprinking of rain, qualifying was quite entertaining with spins and drivers exploring the limits of grip, the race was a bit more measured but entertaining none the less!
Was fun to have an up close view in the pit garage in between races although did not take any photos other than on phone, keeping the toddler away from the pit lane!

Looks like a great day out.

Really enjoyed it, and so did the lad, poignant at times

It’s very clever what can be done with the projection behind the actors. The sound system in there is pretty good too I thought.

Had a lovely day with Claire yesterday. Went to Southport for some gentle shopping and Rolex gazing at (I appear to have reached the old fart stage of starting to like Datejusts and Day Dates…) along Lord Street.

I needed a haircut so went here:

And while I was there I had a traditional shave too, which was the most relaxing thing ever, like a blokey spa treatment. The chap on the left was my barber, he noticed my Speedmaster and he was wearing its twin so we had a nice chat about watches and shaving products and other such manly topics. Claire was amazed at the attention to detail that a good barber puts into their job. He finished the shave off with a decent spritz of Floris Honey Oud, which I now absolutely have to have.

Then we had a nice late lunch in Bistrot Pierre, and then moseyed on down to to The Grand Hotel for a couple of drinkies in their absolutely fab recently restored art deco lounge. I passed on the £500 a measure Bourbon though.

Today I had to go and buy a carry on suitcase because we’re going to Bordeaux for a city break next weekend so I went to TK Maxx and now own the absolutely most man-child case in existence:
