Sitting on a train back from that London listening to a 15 year old tell her friends that Daddy is going to drop 5 figures on a pony.
Apparantly Darcy and Mia don’t know what they are talking about

This is the south of England. He won’t get much of a pony for £299.99.
I don’t know. £299.99 buys a lot of lasagne in Tesco’s
They need to get some advice from @Rob998 ![]()
Decided it was a good idea to come 470 miles up north to view a car tomorrow just north of Inverness. Hopefully it’s all ok otherwise a couple of long days for nothing ![]()
At least it’s a wonderfully scenic drive for the most part!
It must be something special? The used car market up here (I’m in Inverness) is small and expensive.
It’s now 9 months until I get my bus pass. I have a couple of pensions that are supposed to kick in at 60 so I’m trying to push them out until, say, 65. What a miasma ![]()
I don’t give cars names …but I might have been tempted to call this one “Stan” … ![]()
I tried that 20 odd years ago when we bought it. N’s reply was, “Who ?”
I despair !
It’s a phase 1 Clio 172. So nothing particularly special unless you’re into hot hatches. Getting thin on the ground these days due to maintenance costs and rust issues. This one had all the inner and outer sill and a whole rear quarter with basically a full respray to go with it.
Quite a few issues and probably shouldn’t have bought it but hopefully it’s a solid shell going forward
Nice! If the shell is solid, you’ve got something to work from at least. Regular updates required please ![]()
Having a suitability visit from a Setter rescue charity. ![]()
The lady was allergic to cats so of course they were all over her… ![]()

I’ve just run through the illustrations calculator for the two different scenarios on the provider’s web site. I’m numerate.
It looks like if I pushed the larger “main” pension it back to 65 I would have to live to be 79 before it started to make financial sense.
My father died at 76.
My father-in-law died at 53.
It’s just a complete roll of the dice really ![]()
Could you put them all in a drawdown pension pot. That is then passed down to spouse - kids automatically.
Need to get professional advice though, ignore me.
Much better to die broke and enjoy the living bit
I hasten to add no insider trading going on
Quite possibly. I’m just arming myself before talking to the people who have been taking a cut from it for the last 30 years.
No kids mind, and the wife is much more diligent about money than me.
Also
Annuity? Negronity more like.
I have part of my pensions
as a drawdown. Anecdotal l know but over 7 years it’s grown by 15% and given me 3% a month after tax
Got a meeting with a FA next week to discuss my options
