It was my Mum’s funeral today and I’m really glad she got a good send off by family and friends but by fuck it’s the most difficult thing to get through.

Time for some music and a glass or two of wine. :wine_glass:

You got through it Al. Time to kick back with some great tunes and your wonderful memories.

Cheers :clinking_beer_mugs:

Cheers Mike - it’s was such an emotionally exhausting day but, as you say, time to remember the good times.

My mum’s funeral was at the height of Covid, so instead of fifty or sixty people we had 5, plus an online audience as it was live streamed. We also had a memorial at the bowls club she and dad were members of for nearly sixty years, which felt like a proper send off.

The look on the faces of the Save The Children committee’s faces during the eulogy when I dropped the fact that I have (had?) a half brother…

I can’t imagine how you dealt with that but it was good you got to give her a good send off in the bowling club.

Glad it went well Al.

Keep her in your heart; we’re never truly gone until we’re forgotten :people_hugging:

Hopefully it went as well as these things can. Must have been a hard day for you. Another step in the grieving process, thoughts are with you and your family.

Did my first 5km Park Run in Derby this morning at Alvaston.
I didn’t die, but did get wet.

Learning that at this time of year, villages along the Pyrenees mark the start of summer by marching flaming torches down the mountains, then lighting a large and erect split log. Despite assurances that human sacrifices aren’t involved, I’ll be watching from a distance, unless there is naked dancing involved

Slight recompense for missing the Lopwell firepit, I suppose

Community Service for the whole village?

Wallpapering at SiL place. Don’t worry I didn’t have any say in the paper.

Village of the Damned.
They will NEVER get to the end of their sentence,
The only other way out is to go for the transportation option.

There’s been a mad day of final clearing of remaining overlooked chattel from Hel’s dad’s house as the sale goes through. All of the fine antiques were snaffled or auctioned off already (including sadly the Lalique collection we encouraged him to buy at auction 20 years ago and which the family hated until the point they realised how much they were valued at…) and Hel went down to take cuttings from various things in the garden and was ‘allowed’ to take her pick from the scraps that were left.

She came back with a pair of lovely elm bar back chairs which are probably late C18th and no one had noticed, some eclectic Crown Devon Rouge-ware reminiscent of Wedgwood Fairyland (much cheaper though), a BSR 8 track and some tapes, and finally this little beauty again overlooked by family and auctioneer -

It’s been in the garage gathering dust and cobwebs but we’ll see how it cleans up and how operational it might be.
