To Blandford Forum and back, sadly not this way
Actually to the Royal Signals Museum which is inside Blandford Camp, so into the Guardhouse where a valid passport gets you a site day-pass. You have to promise to give way on the roads to marching soldiers (I did see one or two). You’re unlikely to argue in any case as there are plenty of guns about.

Yes, our guide happened to have keys for a few of the classrooms (ones I think now mostly used for entertaining visiting parties of schoolkids).
if those are the ones next to the museum that’s the old part (60’s) where they do the Class 1 and Foreman of Signals courses.
The new school buildings are down the other end of the camp, about a 10min walk away.

Circling Adelaide for my longest training run
I was trying to follow the park trail around the city, and it was going quite well until my phone died at 11km, so I took a bit of a detour towards the beach

Double-dose of vanished railways - Blandford Camp once had its own branch line off the ‘Slow & Dirty’ , prematurely swept-away after ‘The War To End War’ had - as it turned-out - gone on hiatus for a few years…

Ended up asking a v friendly local where i was? She pointed out i was heading to the beach, and suggested I about face and head back towards town, somehow managed to get it together after that
Ended up going through Mills Terrace and Strangeways Terrace in N Adelaide, they are some plush looking residences

AFL, wtf, mad game but v enjoyable, plus rain in the 2nd half, so the balll was slippy, so choas squared, and a v inclusive crowd, families, kids, loads of teens and twenties, beer, wine, at your seat, no supporter segregation, really good example of what sport should be, worth a diversion

Chasing down some pension details (because I turn 60 in < 3 months time).
Two pensions are due to kick in at 60, one is a small defined benefit that cannot get any larger after 60. Take that now. The other is my largest that was originally a group occupational pension and I then threw money into while I was contracting.
I can see that I ran a few numbers a while back and they make interesting reading. I contrasted taking the maximum cash-free lump sum and an annuity from age 60 and from 65. If you divide the difference in annuities by five years of the smaller annuity you get roughly the number of years you’d have to live past 65 for it to start profiting you to leave it later. The answer was 14 - live to 79 and you’re quids in.
So in the spirit of the recent social media post that offered you (I think)
- guaranteed £100k now
- 50/50 chance of £1m now or nothing
do you
- start at 60 on a lower annuity and lump sum
- wait until 65 and gamble that you’re going to live at least 14 years
