It’s been the perfect excuse to get rid of some tat.
Apart from vinyl, neither of us are collectors anymore. But we have realised that, since we moved in here over 15 years ago, there has been stuff we either haven’t used or don’t care about
Like you, a few trips to the charity shop, and the rest we will try to sell in a garden sale (some stuff has already been sold).
Everything left over will go to the tip.
Coming to terms with the undeniability of a truth, that you can’t fix people who don’t want to be fixed. Having to evict my lad from his family home is heart breaking. Will still be here for him, but I’m not watching this train crash from close up, it will take us with him otherwise.
I could do with some Yellow Bentines right now that’s for sure.

I know from my own experience how deep the denial can run.
I had a short period of homelessness which ended up in a hospital admission before I finally accepted that I needed help.
If it is any consolation, once I got clean and sober and took responsibility for myself I managed to rebuild the relationship with my parents and brother.
All things are possible but right now is a very difficult time, but enabling is never the answer.
Tough love is tough.
