I’ve done bugger all today. Felt too cold to go to the workshop. I must be getting soft in my old age :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Happy birthday Olan!

Went up the Glwders and Y Garn in full winter conditions today, first time out using crampons and an ice axe.

I love reading about these N Wales exploits as names pop up from my teenage years in our school mountain club. Y Garn is one such name that we walked/scrambled up back then. I don’t remember it specifically but regardless these are great pictures.

The original brief for the day was Glyder Fach via Bristley Ridge, and they were then going to take us over Glyder Fawr, and down a section called the Devils Kitchen which takes you down via the Idwall Slabs, but as we’d made pretty good progress by the time we got down slightly from Glyder Fawr, we opted to add on Y Garn and come down the rather lovely ridge on the far side.

We’ve done both but in sensible conditions. Wonderful walks, well done.

Lucky they didn’t add in Tryfan, that would be a step too far.

I think Tryfan, especially in these conditions, is a very technical climb on the last stretch.

In a similar vein, many many years ago -
