Returning to merrie old London.

Respect to the young ladies who got on the train at Lurgan wearing lacy crop tops - giving the Geordie lasses a run for their money in the ā€œwhy don’t you have hypothermia?ā€ stakes.

The flight etc. was actually very efficient but it’s still ~7 hours total at absolute best.

I appear to have caught MiL’s ā€œreally nasty barking cough that probably isn’t covidā€. I’ll probably have to be a bit careful about socialising which is a bit annoying.

You have my sympathies Guy.

I have the next week off and in time-honoured tradition came down with a heavy cold.

Cheshire to Devon via brief (10 mins) stop in Bristol = 7 3/4 hours yesterday. Included several delays queuing for roadworks where no work was actually being done and where the traffic actually ran very well through the two open lanes.

I was referring to possibly isolating myself from NZ BiL and his family - this cough is a nasty little bugger. However Italian BiL has now easily leap-frogged me in the infectious stakes and come down with covid again.

This is going to be an awkward few days.

Drove from Harrold (just north of Bedford) to Bury yesterday in a bit over 5 hours. Right load of old shit. Sat nav said 3 hours when we set off.

Sitting in a Travelodge in the West country waiting for a taxi, as the car has a puncture. Will have to return later once the local tyre fitting place has the right one.

Day 4 of raging lurgy. The animals have started speaking.

Sorry to hear that Wayne. There’s rough stuff going about, and who needs it at Xmas eh ?

My BiL and his wife have been in Spain for 3 months and on their return home stopped with us for a couple of nights early in Dec. He was recovering from a bad cold and sneezing and coughing. His wife was OK though. I was afraid we’d come down with it for Xmas, but we didn’t. They stayed with us again over Xmas - now he’s almost finished coughing but she’s only just over the worst of it and in full expectorating mode. So we’re waiting while the incubation clock ticks again. If we make it uninfected to the middle of next week then I reckon we’ll have dodged it again.

Anyway, look after yourself - stay warm, well-hydrated, plenty of treats etc.

At Trafford centre. It is like one of them circles of hell.

Now in Ramsbottom. But of a struggle to get in but surprisingly pleasant once here.

Suspect you need a stiff drink now. Perhaps a visit here beckons.

… the Best Uncle Ever.

NZ nephews were tired and bored right up to the point where they heard that I have a dedicated room with nothing but a sofa, a PS5 and a big TV in it.

We haven’t seen them since we walked through the door and they darted straight upstairs.

I was going to go and mansplain but heard them getting it turned on before I’d got half way up the stairs.

Snap. We’re neck and neck. Except our only animal (the cat) always spoke, as far as I remember.
