Humorous mess of post missed. Tis a sad day.
Finally getting into the spirit of Xmas. I’ve eaten half a kilo of cheese and am watching Die hard.
Finally winkled them out and sent them off with a pile of ancient graphic novels.
They need to understand Tank Girl, Slaine, DR & Quinch etc
You are good at this ‘favourite uncle’ thing aren’t you? ![]()
Surely not before a pint in the Hare and Hounds, then onward and upwards.
(will tups arse ever be the same after this visit ?)
Been a while since I’ve been out drinking round Rammy. Sadly no drinking night out in Bury this year.
One mate is dealing with a massive water leak from his loft and the other is getting over a mini stroke type thing and looking after his wife going through lots of chemo. Feel sad.
The last time I was in Tups I ended up in a micro brewery overlooking the station. Now that was a good night, dark beer on tap as well.
Wondering what the cheesy stench was in the lounge.
Last time it was the wife’s slipper boots (wet outside, dry etc.).
Finally worked out it is the dog treat “stocking” on the sideboard. Apparently they are sad the advent calendar is gone so there is now a permanent* stinky treat sock.
*until I burn it with fire.
At the dentist (not most of the day, TBH).
Dropped in this morning to ask when they could see me for mild toothache. “How about 14:50 today ?” they said.
I’ve just left having had an examination (showing no inflammation or visible decay or damage), an X-ray (showing no hidden decay or damage) and a coat of some kind of hard-wearing varnish over a crack which might be exposing what’s left of the nerve to irritation. I’ve also got a list of options for if it fails to ease, or even gets worse. All for £23 from me plus a contribution from the NHS.
I’ve had this niggle on and off for the last few months and the soreness went full-time in the week before Xmas. I was expecting the pain to escalate to intolerable by (inevitably) Xmas morning. But it didn’t, so I can’t complain I guess.
Been in Ramsbottom again. Now in Harrold.
You wouldn’t have got out of our ‘NHS’ dentist with a bill of less than £200 for that work so well done.
Grand daughters 7th biirtday today so besides the family taking her to Heatherton theme park she wanted to do a tour of the shops to spend some of her birthday money…also go up th the guns on castle hill
Ours is a big practice (2 principal dentists and 15 associate dentists, quite a few of the latter only there part-time). The way they seem to work is that the most junior of the associates (less than 5 years from first registration) are the only ones offering an NHS service. Once they’re well enough established they shift to private work only.
My experience, over the years, of maybe four or five junior associates is that they’ve all been excellent - familiar with the newest techniques, enthusiastic, patient-focused, not inclined to push unnecessary treatment at me (one of the options I was offered was simple extraction of the tooth with no replacement work - “a lot of people are fine with this”, she said) and they’re also prepared to cover antisocial timings (evenings, weekends, holiday periods). They seem to accept that they won’t be making big money yet, although I’d happily have paid a good deal more for the attention I got today.
But there’s a list of fixed charges for NHS dentistry
Congratulations anyway, and to Narelle too ! (At least you can celebrate it on here
.)
Congratulations to you both ![]()
Congrats to your both anyway, have fun!
