So far today I’ve basically been providing my 6 year old son with a steady stream of carbs to shovel into himself. I shudder to think how much food we’ll go through when the oldest two are teenagers

Planted more Rosemary, this time a Village trough for everyone to share.
Built a fermenting chamber out of leftovers and off cuts. It’s rubbish. Obviously built by a badger. But equal to anything made by ANUK 
Took a stack of boxes to the village fire-pit.
Just fired up the Weber for a smokey (applewood) beer can chicken.
Chardonnay chilling.
About to jump in the shower then G&Ts as there is a “y” in the day

Took dog for a walk with Amy.
Done cakes and things for Dads 70th this evening (and washing up).
Going to butchers now for BBQ stuff for Sunday.
Then going to Amy’s dance presentation.
Then going to Dads do at their place for pass the parcel and other general silliness…

Gardening. Dug bean trench, filled bottom with kitchen waste, newspapers and compost and back filled. Planted 10 Dahlias. Generally mucked about

Question for you gardeners, this time last year I planted 2 clematis (Montana) to grow up the new pergola, they grew about 2 metres each last year.A few weeks ago I noticed they were sprouting leaves, today I noticed that they are both dead as a door nail 
Any ideas what could be the cause?
Played golf, got some travel money for Munich,had a late lunch, will have a wander down the beach this afternoon and round @simonms this evening
Might be too much rain (which may have drowned them in less well-drained soil), might be the light overnight frosts in some areas (I’m told we had one a few days ago. It might nip them back, but they would usually start to regrow before too long) - also Clematis are weird about having the top of their roots/base of stem exposed, so it’s a good idea to heap up some stones and rubble around their bases.
Don’t much like having dogs cocking their legs on 'em repeatedly either.

Mmm… we did have a fairly sharp frost -3 last week. The bottoms are covered in crushed slate and our soil is very sandy.
Give 'em time, they may recover
Enjoying the morning sun in the garden plus our third house viewing this week. Planning to put in an offer for the second house that we viewed a few days earlier.
