Just had hygiene clean and the hospital x ray
The expander goes in end of the month. That is cemented in for three months.
The ceramic upper brace is just a wire.
No one has mentioned anything about any special diet! I had a slip in palate brace as a kid and it didn’t stop me eating anything or playing rugby. I remember it aching a lot but it’s just a bit of pain. I’m not bothered about that.
I’m not going to be happy if they casually drop in I need to stop eating stuff…
You will have to modify your diet for sure. I probably added a few months to my treatment by repeatedly breaking my braces. Forget a clip on, brackets bonded to your teeth with a wire and elastics is a different thing entirely.
I once went to a barbecue at a mates house and after a few drinks thought I would try a lamb chop, it was seriously chewy and suddenly I bit into something very hard. I managed to separate it out and discretely spat it into my hand and my heart sank when I realised it was one of the brackets. I took a swig of my drink and then realised the wire was bent at 90° to my teeth and digging in my cheek. Saturday night, no chance of getting it fixed until Monday at the earliest and a stiff wire boring a hole in my cheek resulted in me and my mate in his garden shed with a rusty pair of pliers trying to cut the thing off. After about an hour and in real despair I lost my rag and just yanked it out with about 3 of the other brackets intact.
I got a serious bollocking the following Wednesday when I finally managed to get a broken brace appointment as the teeth had shifted and I had to go down a wire size which added three months to the treatment. They may not be telling you everything just yet…
My lab director used to call it, quite publicly, “pouring viscosity into the system”. The harder it was to spend money, the less we spent. It fixed the budget problem all right. Shame about the impact on the deliverables though …
It will be a breeze and will be well worth it. I am on the last bit of my treatment now, the cosmetic stuff, and it is quite exciting to see it taking shape.
This guy’s a pro. Firstly, before machine polishing, he used some gizmo to measure the thickness of the paint. Then a rain shower passed over so out comes the gazebo. Impressive.
and when I finally waded my way through their crap… what did procurement do? raised a purchase order for £15k instead of £1500…(despite the quote saying £1500)
I think so. It’s new and I checked the pressures a couple of days ago. It does look a bit odd in the photo perhaps due to the shadow and the tyre black he put on. I’ll check them again soon to be sure. Thanks for pointing it out.
