Never tried one, but I can’t get past the thought that one of the objectives of a good tonearm is rigidity. I’ve yet to see a design for a rotating headshell that doesn’t compromise that.
I agree. Any play in the bearing in the headshell will be much worse for fidelity than the same play at the arm pivot. It’s just a bad idea from a fidelity perspective.
But I like the maths underpinning many of them.
If you perform vibrational analysis, you’ll see that no materials or construction is rigid under dynamic conditions. Chasing rigidity is a myth.
