Tools you have bought/desire

I couldn’t resist some Koken Z-EAL sockets:

And a Snap-On 3/8 flex head ratchet:

Because I figured I should own at least one bit of Fap-Off.

Also lusting after PB Swiss screwdrivers.

Make Wera/Wiha/Facom/etc. look cheap and nasty.

I just bought a Draper 3/8 because I’d mislaid my old one. Of course the missing one miraculously reappeared within seconds once the Draper was unpacked and used once. FML.

Lol, tools do that. I think they just like a holiday.

Where do all the 10mm hex sockets go?

Rali hand tools. Have come across them before but was skeptic at. Got to use the chisels, hand planes and bench clamps at the woodworking show my Daad and I went to in Lyon. I’m utterly sold, just lovey things to use and no sharpening faff.

Btw, in case folks don’t know Snap-On own Bahco and certain Bahco ratchets are identical to the snap on internally, using the same dual pawl 80 tooth design. They can be had much cheaper than the Snap-On equivalents.

The 8150-1/2, 7750 and 6950 that look like this:

are the same as the snap-on S80, F80 and T72 types.

They use tiny removable tungsten-carbide blades. They keep their edge for ages, but you cannot sharpen them. The blade has two edges so you can flip them round and use them twice.

Compelling. I seem to lack the knack of honing blades in general.

Something that was on the horizon but wasn’t expecting to buy just yet popped up for a good price second hand, so I am now the proud owner of a Festool Domino:

stainless steel fishing tape - took me 15 mins to thread an armoured CAT6 cable through a tricky hole with the right tools, when i gave up yesterday after 2 hours of faff with bent bits of wire etc…

Known as the ‘Apache’ 19th century Parisian thugs particularly liked these punchy, stabby, bang bang tools. Pregnat with cunty promise they are particularly useful for getting people to set up your cartridge, finding a seat on a sleezy jet plane and getting free bed, board with three square meals for life.

Recently bought a Festool OF1400 router and their CMS router table setup second hand. Fucking lovely piece of kit. Love a good sliding table.
