I’ve only ever had 3:
Linn LP12
Technics SP10
Revox B-790
Still have the direct drives.
Slag
Only two, which would be a problem on a hifi forum.
Pioneer PL220D as a first cheap student second hand thing.
Garrard 401.
Having said that, the 401 has been through three plinths, three arms and two mats.
Lost count.
Same as above.
Ok, found a few pictures of three of the six.
The JVC QL-Y5F back in 2010
The Orbe when first purchased with plinth and lid removed
When converted to a Orbe SE.
And then the SME 20/2
Two.
Dual CS505 (like most of western Europe) in the 80s
Rega something for about a year now. It’s a bit of fun occasionally.
My first deck was a Sansui SR222 bought new in 1978. Since coming back into the hobby around 2010 I’ve had 5 decks.
Sony PS-6750
Kenwood KD-990
Sony TTS-8000, Sony SBMC plinth, SME 310
These are all in current use:
Sony TTS-8000, Acoustand plinth, SME V-12
Technics SP10, SME 3012 s2
Technics SL-10
Covet all of those, although I think the Sony TTS-8000 with SME V-12 is top of the pile.
My Deck, had an LP12 before this. Had this deck for a very long time now, bought back in the days off a fella on the old Zerogain forum before joining the Wam, although it’s currently in several pieces under the spare bed.
There is a plan to get it back out at some point but I’ve said that for about 3 years now.
Should also point out that all the Linn stuff has gone now and I’m 95% headphones only. How things change.
Only 2 for me.
Thorens 160 I think, in mid '70’s
Basic LP12 in early '80’s, as they were.
Still got it but the only original bits are the plinth and lid. Nearly everything bang up to date now, little bit at a time. Reached the stage that thats’s it!
Love the industrial look of the Micro Seiki ![]()
The Voyd with the polished top plate looks interesting - is there a story behind it?
I started out with a Ferguson all-in-one in 1981. This was my weapon of choice until 1990 when I bought a second-hand Rega Planar 3. I have no photos of either of these. The Rega was replaced with a Thorens TD 2010 (which looked bling but was seriously shite)

The Thorens was swiftly replaced by an LP12 with NAIM ARO.

The LP12 was replaced by a Clearaudio Eclipse that @Bolts uses now

The Clearaudio was replaced by an SME 20/2A which was a marginal upgrade to say the very least. I still miss the Clearaudio which was brilliant with my Io Gold

This is the current setup with an AN(J) S6c SUT and Allnic HS1500 II SE phono stage along with the Io Gold
A particularly tasty selection there. I owned the SME 310 for a while after you had it.
No, it went over a decade ago. I wince every time I see the name. Sam sold it shortly before JP did his vanishing act and stopped supporting them. We didn’t know he was going to do it, but obviously no-one will ever believe that… I’m too brainfoggy to recall who bought it, but it was someone I vaguely knew, which made it worse…
It’s a fantastic looking TT but add in the way he conned Russ Collinson was Westlake levels of crooked.
I don’t know, but I suspect some sort of underlying mental health defect/normal-for-hifi-industry, because he harmed himself more than anyone else, but no question he behaved like an utter cunt.
